5 Stars The Best!!!!
Being fairly new to this wonderful world of cast iron, I needed all the help I could get, and this book gives you all the help you need. I had been desperate to find ways to clean my old cast iron, and chapt. 3 was right on the money. It was worth buying the book for that chapter alone. I also found out how cast iron is made and also that you really need to search the backround of the company that you are purchasing your cast iron from. Many companies may have names that sound like they are made in the USA, but after checking, they aren’t. The problem with this is the contents of the cast iron are not regulated outside the U.S. as stringently as they are here. What I’m trying to say is, you really don’t know what you may be eating out of. I am returning an order after finding my item was made in China. It took almost an hour on line to find that info out. It was well hidden. I am now strictly sticking to Lodge Logic. Great products, and a regulated American company.

Very inclusive. I am recommending this book to all my Scouting friends. The “older” leaders among us have difficulties condensing all of the sources of Cast Iron (particularly Dutch Oven) cooking into a consistently easy reference. This does it!

5 Stars Great book
This book has good information as well as wonderful recipes. Highly recommend if you like cooking with cast iron.

3 Stars Good reference
Didn’t care much for the recipes I’ve tried. However, it’s an invaluable book for learning how to care for your cast iron cookware.

1 Star Collectors Guide to Wagner Ware and Other Companies with Prices
Save your money. This book has almost no information in it. The book contains only pictures with few dates and some old prices which don’t take into consideration the condition of the item. It is very incomplete. I have a dozen Wagner skillets and couldn’t find any meaningful mention of them in this book. I wanted to learn about the products that Wagner produced and when each series was manufactured. This book doesn’t have any of that information in it. I hope I can find a book that does! Anybody want a used book for half off?

3 Stars Wagnerware and Other Companies
I found this book useful in identifying types of Wagnerware mainly by pictures in the book. I found it very lacking in substitive information. I needed information on which peices are easily found, hard to find and what kind of condition to look for, years of production for individual peices, etc. This book by itself does not give enough information to help a novice or new collector discover what is collectable and what is not. Had I known the contents before buying, I would have bought another reference instead.

4 Stars many different companies represented at various price ranges
Overall the book has some excellent research information. The book is a great investment for the collector looking to sell his/her product. Just be on the look out because some of the suggest prices are slightly higher than market value. It is a great reference holder for Wagner ware and the variety of other companies that produced wonderful holloware over the past 150 years.

Thanks, Mignonne.

5 Stars Just What We Needed
This little book saved our lives when our Troop decided to have a contest at the campout. All of the kids in the new patrols had to prepare a meal to compete with the rest of the older kids. We didn’t know exactly where to start with our planning until one of the boys brought a cookbook his dad used around the house and when he went deer hunting. We noticed right away how it listed what to buy, how much charcoal to use to get the right temperature and how long to cook it. The instructions were real easy to follow. The tips on seasoning found in the book made it easy to decide how they wanted it to taste. The guys had everything they needed to prepare the meal. Their fire was perfect and they didn’t over-cook anything. The judges were impressed with their knowledge about the ingredients, the simple steps they took to start their fire, and how good the food tasted. They didn’t win first place, but all of the other guys hung around during preparation and time to sample the food. The kids were so proud of not being out done by the older guys and being the center of attention during the contest. Every Patrol leader wanted a copy of our cookbook….Judy Dalrymple, Coppell Texas.

5 Stars A must-have cookbook for cast iron cooking
I’m not much of a cook, and I’m usually pretty intimidated by cookbooks, so when I received this cookbook as a gift, I didn’t think that things would be different. I was wrong! This cookbook literally leads you by the hand and tells you everything you need to know to use a cast iron Dutch oven-both indoors and outdoors.

The recipes are easy to follow, with everyday ingredients and very few steps. It’s very practical for use when camping since the recipes call for many boxed and canned ingredients. Nothing beats cooking at your campsite. Just be prepared for all of the other campers who will come by and want a taste! And don’t worry if you don’t camp out. Every recipe tells you how to prepare the dish in your kitchen as well as outdoors.

By far the best thing about this cookbook is that I now know how to use a Dutch oven to make more than just pot roast and stew. The are recipes for lots of other dishes, including lasagna!! Plus, there are recipes for breads, veggie side dishes, and even desserts.

If you’ve got a cast iron Dutch oven sitting on a shelf in your kitchen, you should have this cookbook!
